Lucknow, Jan 3: Prime accused in multi-crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in Uttar Pradesh and former minister in Mayawati's cabinet Babu Singh Kushwaha joined Bharatiya Janta Party on Tuesday.

Another sacked minister of Maya's cabinet Badshah Singh also joined BJP on Tuesday.

Though the BJP leaders in Lucknow confirmed the joining they remained tightlipped over the reaction.

Hardly a fortnight ago, senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiyya presented a 1500 page chargesheet against Kushwaha to the Lokayukta for his alleged role in NRHM scam. The joining also fizzled out BJP's clean government agenda.

Kushwaha is an accused in the multi-crore NRHM scam. The scam witnessed murder of two Chief Medical Officers and another Deputy CMO in Lucknow. Kushwaha once a blue-eyed boy of Mayawati was family welfare minister at that time. He along with health minister A K Mishra was shown the door. Later, Kushwaha developed serious differences and even wrote a letter to Prime Minister and CM fearing life threat.
