Bengaluru, Jan 21: The department of computer science, school of information technology, St Joseph’s University, hosted the grand inauguration of SYNTAXIA-2025, the inter-college festival, on January 16. The event marked a vibrant beginning to a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and talent.

The chief guest, Ashok Pereira, an eminent technologist, graced the occasion alongside other dignitaries, including Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Dr B G Prashanti, Dr Nithya B, Cybernetics coordinator Dr Shashikala, and Technophite coordinator Dr Mrinmoyee B.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome speech by the organizing committee, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. The introduction of the guests followed, highlighting their achievements and contributions to the field of technology and education. A soulful prayer rendered by Jonathan D’Lima and an enchanting prayer dance created a serene and auspicious atmosphere, embodying the spirit of the event.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was a symbolic gesture of enlightenment and knowledge, with all dignitaries participating along with Cybernetic’s president Shayari Lobo and Technophite’s vice president Disney.

Ashok Pereira delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the role of focusing on product development and on building technologies that help people connect, find communities and grow businesses. His words resonated with the audience, particularly the students.

Father Denzil Lobo SJ shared an insightful speech, emphasizing the importance of ethical responsibility in technology and artificial intelligence. He also mentioned the importance of nurturing critical thinking skills.

The programme concluded with the singing of the Syntaxia Anthem, uniting everyone in the spirit of the festival. A heartfelt vote of thanks acknowledged the efforts of organizers and the presence of esteemed guests. The inauguration set the stage for an exhilarating festival, promising a blend of creativity and intellect.

Kristu Jayanti College emerged victorious, clinching the coveted trophy with their outstanding performances and consistent excellence across multiple events.

The event not only celebrated academic excellence but also reinforced the values of teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning among students from diverse regions of India. A recap video highlighting memorable moments from the event was showcased by both associations, capturing the spirit of the competition and camaraderie among the participants. Following this, the presidents, Shayari Lobo, from the Cybernetics Association and Reaven D’Souza, from the Technophite Association delivered heartfelt speeches, reflecting on the journey of organizing the event and the challenges overcome. They also called the core committee members on stage to express gratitude and acknowledge their hard work and dedication in ensuring the smooth execution of Syntaxia.
