Mangaluru, Jan 23: In a significant political development, 34 BJP workers from the Mangaluru South Assembly constituency joined the Congress party at a ceremony held at the District Congress Office in Mallikatta, Mangaluru.
The event was conducted under the leadership of MLC Ivan D'Souza, with several Congress leaders in attendance. Many of the workers who joined are professionally engaged as auto-rickshaw drivers. They were welcomed into the party by Congress district president Harish Kumar, who offered them the party shawl and flag as a mark of their induction.
The event was attended by key Congress leaders, including former ministers Ramanath Rai and Abhaychandra Jain, as well as former MLA J R Lobo, who extended their support and encouraged the new members to strengthen the party's presence in the region.
