Mangaluru: Coastal Big Bash League cricket tournament to be held from Jan 25 to Feb 1

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The Coastal Big Bash League cricket tournament will be organized at the Sahyadri College grounds in Mangaluru from January 25 to February 1, according to the organizers. This T20 leather ball franchise-based tournament will feature six teams.

Each franchise will comprise 16 players, with every team playing five league matches. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semifinals. The matches will be streamed on an OTT platform. Only players with a KSCA-issued unique identification number are eligible to participate, including eight iconic players from Karnataka's domestic cricket scene. Registered players will be allocated through an auction system.

The playing XI must include one Under-19 player and two Under-23 players. Three matches will be held daily, and spectators can enjoy the tournament with free entry.

Player categorization and regulations

Category A includes first-division players who have competed in the Mangaluru Zone, while Category B comprises second- and third-division players from the same league. Strict rules and anti-corruption measures will be followed throughout the tournament. An agreement between players and the organizers is mandatory, and the event will adhere to KSCA regulations.

Awards and accolades

Several accolades will be presented, including Best Player of the Tournament, Best Catch, Purple Cap, Orange Cap, and Best Emerging Player in the Under-23 category. KSCA-certified match officials will oversee the games.
