Bengaluru, Jan 20: The HMT Grounds in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, on January 19, once again transformed into a vibrant hub for the FKCA Kreedothsav 2025.
This annual sports festival celebrated the essence of unity, teamwork, and athleticism, bringing together communities from across the city for a day of spirited competition and camaraderie.
FKCA Kreedothsav 2025 begins with grand opening ceremony
The FKCA Kreedothsav 2025 began with an exhilarating opening ceremony, led by master of ceremonies Kiran D’Souza. The event started with a moment of spiritual reflection as Fr Francis D’Almeida invoked divine blessings for the day and its participants. FKCA chairman Robert Cutinha warmly welcomed everyone, including past chairpersons Arun Fernandes, Charles Gomes, and immediate past chairman Silvian Noronha. In his address, he emphasized the significance of the gathering in promoting unity and well-being through sports.
Kiran D’Souza introduced the esteemed chief guest, Jude Felix Sebastian, a legendary figure in Indian hockey. Sharon Rego, cultural secretary of FKCA, shared a brief overview of Jude Felix’s remarkable achievements.
Jude Felix’s illustrious career includes representing India in over 250 international matches, spanning two Olympics (1988, 1992), two World Cups, two Asian Games, and three Champions Trophy tournaments. As captain of the national team from 1993 to 1995, he led India in the 1994 World Cup and Asian Games. Renowned for his skillful reverse flick, he was recognized as one of the world’s top seven contemporary players by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in 1995. His achievements have been honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award.
In his address, Jude Felix expressed gratitude to FKCA for the invitation and delivered an inspiring message to the younger generation, encouraging them to strive for excellence and bring pride to the nation.
General secretary Vincent D’Souza expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers and praised Jude Felix for gracing the occasion.
The ceremonial lighting of the FKCA torch, accompanied by a vibrant release of colourful balloons, marked the official commencement of the festivities. Young children from various member associations participated in this symbolic act, embodying the spirit of inclusivity. The oath-taking ceremony, led by participating athletes and dignitaries, reaffirmed a shared commitment to fair play, respect, and sportsmanship. This year’s torchbearers were Avalynn Fernandes from MKCK and Smitha M D’Souza from KCA Mathikere, who carried forward the legacy of the event with pride.
The inaugural portion of the event, organized flawlessly by KCA Mathikere, set the tone for a memorable day of sports and celebration.
Dynamic leadership and coordination shine at FKCA Kreedothsav 2025
Throughout the day, the grounds buzzed with energy as teams from various associations competed in a range of sports, including cricket and throwball, showcasing their skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The events were skilfully hosted by former chairperson Dr Edward Anand D’Souza, whose wit and enthusiasm kept the audience thoroughly engaged. Supporting him were Wesley J Fernandes, sports coordinator, Sharon Rego, cultural secretary of FKCA, and Dr Antony Lucas from KONCAB. Dr Lucas played a key role in ensuring the esteemed chief guest Jude Felix graced the occasion, adding a distinguished touch to the event.
Edward Crastha, secretary of KCS Yeshwanthpur, alongside Dr Lucas, demonstrated exceptional leadership by professionally managing the throwball and cricket teams. Their combined efforts ensured the smooth execution of individual events, contributing to the overall success of FKCA Kreedothsav 2025.

The registration process was managed seamlessly by the dedicated teams from KS Jayanagar, IKK Indiranagar, CKA Dasarahalli, and KCWA RT Nagar, ensuring a smooth start to the day’s events.
The meticulous compilation of certificates and medals was expertly handled by Mamtha D’Souza from Sezari Bommanahalli, Benny Monteiro from KS Jayanagar, and Nishel Saldanha from KONCAB. Their attention to detail played a vital role in the success of the event.
Thrilling relay races ignite the spirit of sportsmanship
The boys’ and girls’ relay races were among the highlights of the day, captivating the crowd with displays of speed, agility, and coordination. These electrifying moments not only showcased the young athletes' talent but also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie. Participants and spectators celebrated the true essence of sportsmanship, creating an atmosphere of unity and joy.
A memorable finale to FKCA Kreedothsav 2025
The grand finale of FKCA Kreedothsav 2025 was a spirited closing ceremony, masterfully emceed by Rayan Miranda of SAKK Marathahalli. BKCS Koramangala emerged victorious, proudly clinching the prestigious FKCA Rolling Trophy for 2025. This trophy, dedicated by immediate past chairman Silvian Noronha in loving memory of his parents Cyril Ambrose and Flossy Noronha, holds deep sentimental value.
Chairman Robert Cutinha delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective effort behind the event’s success. He extended special appreciation to the sponsors whose support made the celebrations possible.
Gratitude was also expressed to Blue Birds Caterers for their delectable meals, the photographer who captured memorable moments, the sound and lighting team, and Wesley J Fernandes, whose selfless commitment ensured the smooth execution of the event despite unexpected showers. Michelle’s Kitchen delighted attendees with its burgers, while a conveniently placed soft drink vending machine kept everyone refreshed.
