Media Release

Udupi, Jan 26: The campus of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) set the stage for the upcoming 7th Edition of the Manipal Marathon 2025 with the successful completion of a 5K Promo Run. Powered by ICICI Bank and organized in association with IRIS, KMC’s Queer Club, the event highlighted the marathon's commitment to fitness, inclusivity, and community engagement. The main marathon is scheduled to take place on February 9.

With the theme “Innovation in Motion” and the tagline “Embracing Technology for Health and Fitness,” the Manipal Marathon 2025 aims to revolutionize the integration of technology in fitness and wellness. The marathon, India’s largest student-organized event of its kind, will feature internationally certified IAAF AIMS routes that take participants through the breathtaking landscapes of Manipal and along the scenic Udupi coastline. Participants will not only enjoy a world-class running experience but also a grand carnival celebration post-run.

The 5K Promo Run began with an address by pro chancellor Dr H S Ballal, who emphasized the importance of fitness, technology, and community spirit. “The Manipal Marathon is not just a race, it is a movement to inspire healthier lifestyles and foster inclusivity. The enthusiasm shown here today is a true testament to the power of community and fitness,”

The event was flagged off by Dr Ballal, vice chancellor Lieutenant General Dr M D Venkatesh, VSM, and pro vice chancellor of Health Sciences Dr Sharath Rao. Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Dr Venkatesh said, “This marathon celebrates the spirit of togetherness and the transformative role of technology in fitness. We invite everyone to join us on February 9 for a truly unforgettable experience.”

The promo run saw active participation from MAHE faculty, staff, and students, along with members of the Manipal Runners Club, Udupi Runners Club, and local residents. Adding a special touch to the event, bike riders from the Rotary Club of Manipal Town joined as part of the promotional activities.

As part of the marathon’s lead-up events, a Fitness Session for Women of All Age Groups will be held on February 1, at TMA Pai Hall. This session, organized by the Department of Exercise and Sports Science and the Department of Physiotherapy, MCHP, reflects the marathon’s commitment to promoting fitness across all demographics.

The Manipal Marathon continues to grow as a celebration of health, wellness, and community, bringing together thousands of participants to inspire a fitter and more inclusive future.
