Hebri: Wife lodges complaint against bus owner for dowry harassment, financial abuse

Hebri, Jan 26: A private bus owner, Shivaprasad, is on the run after his wife, Manjula, filed a police complaint accusing him of dowry harassment and financial exploitation.

Married in 2014, the couple has two sons. During the marriage, the wife’s family was demanded dowry in the form of gold jewellery. Manjula's family provided the gold jewellery and also bore the wedding expenses.

According to the complaint, Shivaprasad demanded gold jewellery as dowry and, after receiving it, used the gold as collateral for a bus lease while taking out massive loans.

Manjula claims her husband is also having an extramarital affair and has been neglecting her and their children, leaving them financially stranded and enduring physical and mental abuse.

Police are currently searching for the accused, who has gone into hiding.
