Udupi, Jan 30: Republic day was celebrated with patriotic fervour on Sunday Jan 26.
Col Dr Arthur Rodrigues, president of former servicemen cooperative society was the chief guest for the programme. He hoisted the tricolour and received the guard of honour.
In his address Col Dr Arthur Rodrigues said “Republic day is the day we accepted for implementation of the written constitution of India. This constitution gives us a government by the people, for the people and of the people. This means we are the masters of ourselves. The Constitution lays down a path for nation building. Every citizen is a member of the taskforce in nation building. We must remember that the right given by the constitution is equal to all the people. The Constitution makes us patriotic citizens of this country. Patriotism is doing the work we are supposed to do. Respect every religion and religious practice."
Dr TJ Quadros, principal welcomed the gathering. Preethika Manohar Poojary of class 9 proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was beautifully compered by Prarthana D Suvarna of class 9. Shantha Fernandes, headmistress of the school; Violet Quadros, trust member, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and student were present on the occasion.
The students performed various drills, cultural performances on the occasion.
