Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs Day

Mangaluru, Feb 1: January 30 marks the important day in the history of India. On this day Mahatma Gandhiji who fought for the freedom of India was assassinated in 1948. On this day, people across the country pay tribute to those who died for India's independence and to Gandhi's legacy of non-violence and peace. This day is commemorated as Martyrs Day.

Lourdes Central School paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi during the school assembly. Significance of the day was highlighted by a student of class 4. The principal in his message enlightened us with the principles and values of Gandhi ji.

A floral tribute was offered by the staff, students and our principal to the father of our nation. Two minutes of silence was observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi and the Martyrs of our nation.

Assembly was conducted by class 4 under the guidance of Aruna.
