Mangalore: Gala Celebrations Herald Eighth Year of 'Nekkaremar Friends'

Mangalore, Jan 8: "It is not easy for a huge group to stay together and maintain the same ideals and objectives for a long time. The Nekkaremar Friends duly deserve our appreciation, as the club is doing a wonderful service to the society providing entertainment and contributing towards social welfare," said U T Khadar, the MLA.
He was speaking at the eight annual celebrations of 'Friends Fest-2012', on January 7 evening, in Nekkaremar, Gorigudda ground here.
"Let this club grow bigger in the coming days and build peace and harmony in the society and the country at large. Their services enable others to work for the betterment of the system as well," Khadar opined.
Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld.com, who also shared the dais during the inaugural ceremony, said, "It is a great pleasure to be here and be a part of this event. I wish all success to the future endeavors of this Club. Let their work inspire the young generation."
He also lauded the group for their service rendered to the local people. "If this place is lighted up and the stage is awaiting the presence of film stars, the credit goes to this Friends' Club for making things happen."
The special attraction of the evening was the presence of popular Kannada actor Ramya Barna. Sinchan’s music and performances by dance troupes cheered the crowd. The persistent expectation of actor Diganth’s arrival went in vain as he could not turn up.
Bhaskar Chandra Shetty, corporator, expressed happiness over the activities conducted by the club. Blood donation, cultural activities, helping orphanages and old age homes are some among the many noble deeds that the club renders.
Chandra Shekar Uchchil, Praveen Alva, Naveen Mascarenhas, Merrill Rego, Chetan Devadiga, Srikar Prabhu and Sharan Pumpwell and others were present at the inaugural.
