Udupi, Feb 3: ICYM Pangla, in celebration of its golden jubilee, successfully organized a blood donation camp at the Community Hall in Shankerpura on February 2. The event, which is the first of many planned activities for the year-long anniversary celebrations, was conducted in collaboration with the Blood Bank, KMC Manipal.
Fr Anil Prakash, parish priest addressed the gathering, he said that in addition to donating blood, there is a critical need for organ donations to help those in urgent need of transplants. He praised the ICYM Pangla unit and its animator Anitha D’Souza for organizing the event, and expressed gratitude to Dr Mohammed Azeez and the KMC team for their participation. He also acknowledged the presence of ICYM Shirva deanery and central unit members and concluded his remarks with a prayer for the success of the camp.
Dr Mohammed Azeez and Dr Edward Lobo spoke about the importance of blood donation, emphasizing its life-saving benefits and its positive impact on the health of donors.
A total of 35 units of blood were collected during the camp, with a strong turnout of Pangla parishioners and ICYM members actively contributing to the cause. The camp started with a short prayer hymn by ICYM members, followed by a brief stage program. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony was performed by the dignitaries on the dais, marking the beginning of the event.
Jeevan Pereira, ICYM president welcomed the gathering, Princia Noronha gave the vote of thanks and Bernold Martis compered the event.
