Lucknow, Jan 8: On a chilly Sunday afternoon Samajwadi Party (SP) scion Akhilesh Yadav rolled on his kranti rath in Lucknow.
Starting from Tile Wali Masjid he travelled to Tedhi Pulia crossing Khadra, Shia College, Vikas Nagar etc.
The journey garnered good response and was received enroute by SP supporters in good numbers.
Addressing a crowd of youths, Akhilesh remarked: "There is depression and despair everywhere in this regime but the confidence of youths is signalling that the end of this corrupt rule is near. Youth will play a major role in toppling this government."
Striking a chord with Lucknowites, Akhilesh stated that the city of nawabs had a distinct image and culture but Chief Minister (CM) Mayawati has tarnished everything. Hundreds of youths had gathered at Tile Wali Masjid to welcome their leader and they garlanded him and showered petals.
Moving ahead, Akhilesh went to mini stadium where a cricket tournament was being played. He distributed prizes to the players. "We all love sports. It is essential for our life. But this government has demolished the stadium in Gomti Nagar. UP has given many popular players but this government has no regard for them. We will revive the sports culture in the state," he said.
Enroute when a group of Muslims stopped his kranti rath to welcome at Shia College, Akhilesh was prompt to assure that interests of Muslims will be safeguarded in the SP rule. "Injustice against Muslims will not be tolerated, the SP government will be for your development," he said.
When another urban crowd led by Prof Abhishek Mishra and Juhi Singh stopped him at Vikas Nagar, Akhilesh mentioned that development of cities is also on the agenda. "There will be integrated development of the cities with interests of farmers also remaining unaffected," he said.
Similar felicitations were seen at Khadra, Mohan Meakin road, Madeyganj Chowki, Purania Crossing, Mohibullahpur, Madion, Navin Fruit Market, Daliganj Trisection, Prakashan Kendra, Sitapur road and Jankipuram etc.
