Mangaluru, Feb 4: The Management Forum, department of BCom, Srinivas Institute of Management and Commerce, successfully organized an Inspiring and Interactive workshop on ‘Effective Communication – power posture: The art of confidence and impactful communication’ on February 3. The session was conducted by Preston Sequeira, a distinguished (senior software engineer, master of ceremonies, toastmaster, singer, social media influencer). The workshop aimed to empower students with effective communication techniques, confidence-building strategies, and real-world insights into impactful expression.
The event was skilfully compered by Shrinidhi M (II BCom CMA), who seamlessly guided the proceedings. The workshop began with an engaging ice-breaking activity on remembering letters, setting an interactive and lively tone for the session. This was followed by the Talk Tornado event, where participants were encouraged to think on their feet and articulate their thoughts effectively, reinforcing their spontaneity and presence of mind.
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the segment on real-life tricks to manage anxiety, where Sequeira shared practical strategies to overcome stage fear and communicate with confidence. The session was further enriched with demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and case studies that helped students analyse situations like managers, preparing them for real-world professional interactions. Through these engaging activities, participants gained valuable insights into structuring their communication, maintaining power postures, and delivering impactful messages.
The workshop concluded on a high note with the distribution of certificate of completion to total 54 participants from first years and second years students of BCom, personally handed over to each participant by Preston Sequeira, making it a memorable and rewarding experience for all attendees. The workshop was an out-of-the-box, incredible learning experience, leaving a lasting impact on the students.
This successful event was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin (dean, IMC), Prof Sharmila S Shetty (HoD, BCom department), Prof Yashashwi A Ail (course coordinator, ACCA), and Prof Hansel Rego (management forum faculty coordinator), alongside the support of all BCom faculty members. Their mentorship and dedication played a crucial role in making this workshop an enlightening and enriching experience for the students.
