Udupi: Fire Swallows up Two Shops, Loss Worth Lacs Estimated

Udupi, Jan 9: Two shops housed in a commecial complex at Kaup here were burnt completely ruined after a fire broke out on Monday January 9.

The incident occured between 7.45 and 8 pm. A loss of Rs 3 to 4 lac is estimated.

One is a tyre resolving shop belonging to Umesh, and the other is a fibre and plywood fabrication shop owned by Basheer. The shops are located in a commercial complex near the new office of circle inspector.

Short circuit is said to be the cause for the fire.

The locals tried to douse the raging fire. They also took the help of a water tanker from the nearby Padoor project.

Fire services were called from Udupi, and they managed to extinguish the fire. However, both the shops were totally charred by then.

More than 100 people gathered at the spot.

Kaup circle inspector Cheluvaraj, sub-inspector (SI) Mohan Kottary, crime SI Girish Kumar and other policemen rushed to the spot.

    Very sad news from Udupi, fire ruined the wealth of the poor business persons,It will make the loses money of the poors. Short circuit it happening a lot of building, so Electrical engineer should ensure the working capacity and quality of materials all of the building.
