Udupi: Stone on Railway Track - Alert Driver Averts Tragedy

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jan 10:  A border stone, which is normally planted to mark the borders of properties surveyed, was found to have been placed on the railway track at Mallar Kote Road near Kaup on Monday January 9.

It seems some miscreants brought the stone, which is considerably heavy, from some distance, and placed it on the railway track on purpose.

The Rajdhani Express Train moving between New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram, which passed through the region at around 5.30 pm on Monday suffered minor damages to the engine and its front bumper after passing over the stone. The train driver, who had seen the stone from a distance, had applied breaks on time. Therefore, the speed of the train had come down, averting a major tragedy.

The driver thereafter stopped train at Padubidri station, verified the damages, and reported to the station master. Thereafter, the train moved ahead towards its destination. In this connection, railway officials filed a complaint in Kaup police station.

Dear Naveen what you wrote is exactly right and I agree with you in all respect. Some of these people should be educated and see what is life. There were so many passengers in the train who were going on different missions. If something happened there would have been lives lost, property damage and what not. Authorities, please take care of the situation and punish the culprits.

This act is condemnable and people involved are nothing short of terrorists. There is a considerable decline in the morals of the people off late and some section of society have become nuisance. Many a times we ordinary people do not report the illegal activities of these miscreants to proper authorities which is a grave mistake. We should engage the public to report any illegal activities through some call centre or centralized process which will help the administration to keep a check on these kind of activities.
