Sullia, Feb 7: The Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) Educational Institution has achieved success in its efforts to establish central regulation for the Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) course.

Following a key meeting held in Dharmasthala in January 2025, another crucial discussion took place at Nirman Bhavan, New Delhi, on February 4. During this meeting, SDM educational institution submitted a request for implementing central regulations for naturopathy and yoga science. The Central AYUSH commission fully endorsed this proposal.

The meeting was presided over by Union AYUSH minister Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav. It was attended by the AYUSH secretary, members of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), key dignitaries, as well as esteemed Rajya Sabha Member and SDM Educational Institutions president, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, and SVYASA chancellor Dr H R Nagendra.

The ministerial panel expressed full support for SDM educational Institution’s strong advocacy. This development marks another significant milestone in establishing high-quality education and scientifically-backed practices in the field of naturopathy and yoga.

“This regulatory framework is essential for the accreditation of education in this domain. If necessary, modifications can be made to the existing regulations to address immediate challenges,” stated Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

SDM’s initiative aims to set standards and credibility in the fields of naturopathy and yoga. With this national-level recognition, SDM’s efforts in promoting India’s traditional education system and enhancing the quality of education have received substantial validation.
