Udupi, Feb 7: On the occasion of first annual festival, the Shri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike (R) Udupi to host a special event ‘Varshada Harsha’, at Shri Shambukallu Veerabhadra Temple, near Udyavara, on February 8.
The organization reflects the timeless truth of one caste, one religion, and one God, a message that embodies the teachings of the revered social reformer and spiritual leader, Brahmashri Narayana Guru.
The event will commence at 10.30 am with the flag-hoisting ceremony by B N Shankar Poojari, the president of Shri Vishwanath Kshetra Katpadi, at Guru Katte. The ceremony will mark the official start of the celebrations. Later in the evening, at 5 pm, a procession will bring the idol of Shri Adishakti Devi from the Shri Adishakti Kshetra Bayalujidda to Chowki, where various activities will follow.
At 6 pm, renowned Nadaswaram artistes will perform during the music programme. The annual function will take place at 7 pm, with dignitaries such as former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, and businessmen’s Rajshekar Kotian, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Surya Prakash, Hariprasad Rai, Jitendra Shetty, Nitesh Salian, Jayakar Sherigar, Ullas Shetty, Raghunath Maben, Riyaz Palli, Kiran Kumar, and others in attendance.
Following the meeting, a captivating Yakshagana performance based on the legendary tales of Shri Shambukallu Veerabhadra Temple's history will be staged. The Yakshagana performance will be presented by the Shri Adishakti Kripaposhita Yakshagana Mandali from Bayalujidda, Udyavara. Featuring famous Himmela and Mummela artists, the performance will bring to life exciting episodes of revered deities like Veerabhadra, Mahakali, Panjurli, and others. The event promises to offer a fresh chapter in the history of Yakshagana, sparking great curiosity among the audience, as the performance showcases some unique, thrilling sequences never before seen in this traditional art form.
