Udupi, Feb 7: Chief minister Siddaramaiah has ordered the formation of an expert committee to investigate the rising number of sudden deaths among youths in the state, following a letter from senior journalist Rajaram Tallur.

Tallur raised alarm over the growing reports of young individuals dying unexpectedly, with causes attributed to heart attacks, cardiac arrests, brain-related issues, and neurological conditions. These sudden fatalities have left many families facing financial and social crises.

Public discussions have suggested a possible link between these deaths and the aftereffects of Covid-19 or its vaccines. In his letter, Tallur urged authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation to determine whether these deaths are related to the virus or vaccine side effects, and to implement preventive measures.

In response, the government has swiftly formed a committee of experts and scientists to look into the issue. The panel will submit a detailed report, and based on its findings, necessary preventive measures will be introduced to address the growing concern.
