Moodbidri, Feb 7: Carmel School celebrated Safer Internet Day with great enthusiasm reinforcing the importance of responsible digital practices and online safety. The event held in the school auditorium aimed to educate students on cybersecurity and promote a safer digital environment.
The programme commenced with a solemn prayer service seeking divine guidance for wisdom in navigating the digital world. This was followed by an engaging and creative welcome speech by Manvith Bhandary and Amber Lynne D’Souza who set the tone for an insightful and interactive session.
The highlight of the event was an enlightening session by the distinguished cybersecurity expert, educator and author Ananth Prabhu G. He was warmly welcomed by vice principal Sr Preena AC who presented him with a potted plant as a token of appreciation.
Prabhu, a professor of computer engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and a principal investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Center of Excellence captivated the audience with his expertise. He emphasized the need for vigilance in the digital space sharing real-life cybercrime cases, preventive measures and best practices for online safety.
The session provided valuable insights into cyber threats and the importance of understanding digital footprints. Participants learned about safe online practices including password protection and privacy settings to enhance their digital security. The session also raised awareness about cyberbullying and digital ethics, emphasizing the need for respectful and responsible online behavior. Additionally, it highlighted the significance of using social media and the internet wisely, ensuring a safe and positive digital experience for all.
His engaging delivery kept students alert and active throughout the session. The session not only raised awareness but also instilled a sense of responsibility among students to navigate the internet wisely.
Following the insightful session D S Varun Sridhar and Nishma N Hegde delivered the vote of thanks expressing heartfelt gratitude to sir for his invaluable guidance.
The programme was hosted by Shreeya B N and Christal Sequeira, who ensured the event flowed smoothly.
