Udupi: Pejavar Swamiji Ends Fast on Minister Acharya's Plea

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jan 10: District in-charge minister, Dr V S Acharya, visited Pejavar Mutt Swamiji, Sri Vishweshateertha, at Goddess Durga Parameshwari Temple in Nandikoor near Padubidri on Tuesday January 10 in an attempt to assuage his feelings and convince him to end fast.

It may be recalled that the Swamiji is on a three-day fast at the said temple in protest against the dropping of two experts nominated by him, Y B Ramakrishna and T V Ramachandra, from the committee appointed to go into the environmental hazards and other problems created by Udupi Power Corporation Ltd’s thermal power plant in Nandikoor, since Monday.

He assured the Swamiji that all the issues concerning salty ground water and environmental pollution will be addressed on a time bound programme within the next six months. He told the Swamiji that a vented dam will be built across River Shambhavi at Nitte to supply drinking water to affected villages. He also informed that two cement factories, one by Associated Cement Company, and the other by Birla Cement, will be set up soon at the site, and that they will make use of fly ash. Once the factories begin production, the fly ash problem will get addressed, he reasoned.

It is also gathered that state Chief Minister (CM), D V Sadananda Gowda, spoke to the Swamiji over phone and discussed with him the issue. He is understood to have told the Swamiji that the government is prepared to accept the report prepared by the committee appointed for the purpose, and separate reports from the two experts named above, and study their contents before taking a decision. The CM it is gathered, impressed upon the Swamiji to discontinue his fast.

Spiritual head of Puttige Mutt, Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji, Palimar seer, Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swamiji, additional deputy commissioner of the district, Kumar, tahsildar, Prasanna, deputy superintendent of police, Santosh Kumar, district health officer, Ramachandra Bairy, and hundreds of locals were present. Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Balakrishna Shetty Dubai, Raita Sangh district president Vijay Kumar Hegde and hundreds of villagers were present at the occasion.

Considering the offers made by Acharya, the Swamiji discontinued the fast at 10.30 am on Tuesday, but is firm on protesting till Wednesday January 11 evening.

Dear District in-charge minister, Dr V S Acharya, Are you awere of the below news piublished in leading news paper. Please read it before it is too late.
NTPC shuts down 500-mw unit on Orissa pollution board order
    Press Trust of India

Talcher (Orissa): NTPC has shut down one of its four 500-mw thermal power generation units at Kanhia in response to a closure notice by Orissa State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) following the power major's faulty fly ash management plan.
NTPC, which has six power generation units (6X500 mw) at its Talcher Super Thermal Power Station (TSTPS), was issued the notice to shut down four of them by OSPCB on June 28, Sidhanta Das, Member Secretary, told newsmen here.
On June 29, OSPSB rejected a NTPC request for four months time to repair and raise the height of the ash pond dykes.
As per OSPCB, the thermal power station generates about 6 lakh mt fly ash every month and going by the current capacity, the ash pond would last till October and raising its dykes would take at least a year.
In such a situation the only way to manage the fly ash is to reduce the power generation, he said.
NTPC regional director R Venkateswaran said the power situation in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala would be severely effected.

This is nothing but blackmailing and exploitation of the religious sentiments of people knowing that the state govt and the BJP ministers is inclined towards swamijis and mutts. Karnataka has the worst tradition of mixing politics with religion and vice versa.

This is a familiar recurrence. As a philosopher remarked, when such things happen, first time it is a comedy and the second time it is a farce!. I do not know what to call it when it repeats after that. The main problem is the people who throng to these so called "leaders" and the media which gives them exposure. Everybody knows (or should know) that if there is no media attention, all this farce will die.

what is the cause of Salt water in the Ground water supply ? Answer Due to the Massive construtcion at the Beach of sea Sand bed which naturally prevents salt water seepage gets converted onto SAND ROCKs .Hence salt water absorbing power of Beach goes off and thus Salt water of the sea directly seeps into the ground water .So what is the solution ? Contnuous DREDGING needs to be done at the sea Beach -Sea water interface .Dredging is a costly procedure and hence these UPCL may not do that .PREVENTION IS BETTER THAT CURE .Hence instead of giving supply of fresh water from river .Do continuous Dredging so that Rocks dont built up

In every society there are three types of organisation for the well being of the people and they are:
    Religion & priests
    Politics & leaders and
    Social Organisations & activists
They have their own territories in plenty, to solve the people’s problems hence they should not trespass into others territories.
Religious leaders and social activists should not attack few ive political parties under their opponents influence and should not also support their favourite political parties from back door. This type of double mask by any organisation is unethical in their part.
Pejavar swamiji and Annaji should not mix up their philosophy with other’s philosophies and end up blindly supporting the nationalist right wing BJP party or any other party indirectly. These types of arm-twisting tack ticks from outside their domain and that is unethical and morally wrong.

Just an eyewash and publicity stunt. Purpose is not served. So far none of the pliticians across the country cutting party lines have kept their promises and even this promise shall not see the sunshine. Please wait and watch...

Its good that dangerous is averted as he is already old and fragile...now fast has happy ending without any achievements..
