Udupi Feb 12: Eminent educationist and former principal of Barkur Pre-University College, Seetharam Shetty, passed away early this morning at 1 am at his residence after a brief illness.

With a career spanning over three decades in the field of education, Seetharam Shetty was widely respected for his contributions. He also served as the vice president of the Barkur Educational Society and was actively involved with the Bharatiya Vikas Trust, spreading awareness about environmental conservation.

An ardent advocate of agriculture and water conservation, he inspired numerous young minds. A devoted Yakshagana enthusiast, he was a lifetime member of the Yakshagana Kalaranga.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a vast circle of students and admirers.

Expressing deep condolences, M Gangadhara Rao, president of the organisation, and Murali Kadekar, secretary, mourned the loss of this exemplary educator and mentor.
