Media Release

Mangaluru, Feb 13: The annual Relic feast of St Anthony of Padua will be celebrated with great devotion on February 15 at St Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu, and Milagres Church, Mangaluru. This year’s theme, “Walk in the Footsteps of St Anthony, Embrace the Journey as Pilgrims of Hope,” calls upon the faithful to seek inspiration from the saint’s life of faith, charity, and service.

The main festive holy mass will be solemnised at 6 pm at Milagres Church Grounds, with most Dr Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, as the main celebrant. On the feast day, Masses in Konkani will also be held at 6 am and 9:30 am at St. Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu.

Honouring the ‘Saint of Miracles’

St Anthony, known as the “Wonder Worker”, is renowned for his powerful preaching and miracles. A unique testament to his holiness is the miraculous preservation of his tongue for over eight centuries, symbolising his unwavering commitment to proclaiming God’s word. His legacy continues to inspire millions worldwide.

Jeppu St Anthony’s Ashram: A home of compassion

Since its establishment in 1936, St Anthony’s Ashram has served as a sanctuary of love and service. Providing shelter and care to over 400 destitute individuals, the ashram embodies St Anthony’s mission of mercy, offering hope to the abandoned and forgotten. The residents, often referred to as “Saints in Prayer”, continuously intercede for the well-being of benefactors and the faithful.

Milagres Church: A pillar of devotion

A centre of St Anthony’s devotion since 1898, Milagres Church has long been a place where devotees gather for Tuesday Masses and Novena prayers. Initiated by Msgr. M.P. Colaco, this enduring tradition has blossomed into a vibrant faith movement, drawing thousands seeking spiritual blessings.

A call to walk in St Anthony’s footsteps

As the church marks the Year of hope in 2025, this celebration is an invitation to follow St Anthony’s example—spreading faith, love, and compassion. His life reminds us that true hope is found in service to others and unwavering trust in God.

The nine-day novena in preparation for the feast began on February 6 with hundreds of devotees participating daily, seeking intercession and blessings. The faithful are encouraged to join in this grand celebration and experience the grace and miracles of St Anthony.
