Puttur: Arecanut plantation fire destroys over 250 trees in Hirebandadi

Puttur, Feb 15: A devastating fire broke out in an arecanut plantation in Padyottu, Hirebandadi village, destroying over 250 arecanut trees.

The fire occurred in a one-acre plantation owned by Yatheesh Shetty, a resident of Padyottu. The blaze resulted in significant losses amounting to thousands of rupees.

Fire brigades from Puttur and Belthangady struggled to control the flames. Eventually, with assistance from the Bantwal fire department, the fire was brought under control.

Locals suspect that an overhead power line passing through the plantation may have caused the incident.
