Moodbidri, Feb 17: A shocking daylight robbery took place at Alangar, Moodbidri, where masked miscreants looted around 30 sovereigns (approximately Rs 3.5 lac worth) of gold ornaments from the house of culinary expert Prashanth Jain on Sunday.

At the time of the incident, Prashanth Jain and his son were at their workplace in Mulki, while other family members had gone to Shirthady. The robbers took advantage of the situation, finding only Jain’s daughter at home. They gagged her and allegedly used a spray that rendered her unconscious before fleeing with the jewellery.

The incident occurred around 10:30 am, but it came to light only two hours later when a relative from a neighbouring house arrived. The young woman, having regained consciousness, narrated the incident to her.

Panambur ACP Srikanth and Moodbidri Circle Inspector Sandesh P.G. visited the spot and registered a case. A canine squad and forensic experts also examined the scene. Initial investigations suggest that the robbers might have been known to the family and had monitored their movements before executing the crime.
