Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 17: At 90 years of age, Jayaram, a resident of Konchady, continues to be a symbol of dedication, resilience, and passion. With wrinkled hands, glasses perched on his eyes, and an unyielding enthusiasm, Jayaram is not just another auto driver but a role model for the younger generation.

Having spent over five decades behind the wheel, Jayaram has seamlessly transitioned from being a lorry driver for 30 years to an auto driver for the past 20 years. Today, he is an active member of the Konchady Katte auto park, where he is affectionately known as ‘Jayaramanna’. Despite his advanced age, he continues to work tirelessly, ferrying passengers safely and reliably, earning their admiration and trust.

In a society where retirement often signifies the end of a career, Jayaram’s life tells a different story. "Working hard gives life a purpose," he says with conviction. This philosophy drives him to serve his passengers with dedication and maintain an impeccable safety record. Remarkably, Jayaram has never been involved in an accident during his 20 years as an auto driver.

His reputation for being the ‘safest driver’ has made him a preferred choice among women and families, who rely on his services for safe travel. Jayaram’s unwavering spirit and commitment to his work are a testament to his belief that life must be lived with purpose, regardless of age.

While most people his age spend their days with their children and grandchildren, Jayaram continues to steer the wheel of life with energy and determination. "I will work and earn my bread as long as I have breath in me," he says, embodying a spirit that refuses to be bound by the limitations of age.

Jayaram is not just an auto driver; he is a beacon of inspiration, proving that age is merely a number when the heart is filled with passion and purpose.

Why nothing is mentioned about his immediate family members. What is the real reason from him to earn his daily income by driving an auto at this age. I don't think it's an inspiration to the young minds. But hat's off to his courage and dedication.

With all due respect to this gentleman, if I am driving an Auto @ 90 years of age, I am not an inspiration to the younger generation. At best I am a case study for younger students on how to do better in life

Definitely inspiring. On the other side, we must a solid Social Security system in order for people like him to retire and live a good life. Viksit Bharat is just a pipedream if we don't have basic needs.

Truly an inspiring story this. Along with his service he must be also maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It would be good if Daijiworld asks him about his food habits and physical activities to keep muscle mass and bone mass intact. let us wish him long life ahead and safe driving.
