New Delhi: Harsha Rai from Puttur Gets 'Bharath Samman Award'

New Delhi, Jan 13: Young NRI engineer Puttur Harsha Kumar Rai was honoured at the Pravasi Bharathiya Divas program held at Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi held recently. He was awarded with the prestigious Bharath Samman Award 2011 for national and international achievement in technical field. Governer of Arunachal  Pradesh J J Singh conferred the award.

Governer of Puducherry Dr Iqbal Singh, minister of UK Baroness Dr Verma, former speaker of Lok Sabha Dr Balaram Jakhar, Uganda high commissioner to India Nameesha Madhvani, former CBI director Joginder Singh, Britan NRI enterpreneur Dr Rami Ramger and many more national and international guests were present.

The evening marked the grand reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to India James Bevan for the delegates of the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas.

Harsha Kumar Rai was born in Puttur, Karnataka, to Madauv K M Mohan Rai and Mithrampady Jayanthi Rai. After his MTech, he worked in four countries including India, especially for government projects as project management and supervisory consultant. He is presently working in Oman for USA-based international engineering consultancy as an infrastructure engineer. He has attended several national and international training programmes and gained experience in road, flyover and infrastructure technology.

He was also a rank holder in Bachelor of Engineering at the state level. He has handled many large scale projects successfully as an engineer in Bangalore, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat.
