Jamshedpur, Feb 19: In a shocking incident on Wednesday, Shivam Ghosh, a youth known for his involvement in criminal activities, was shot dead in broad daylight on Dhatkidih Main Road in Jamshedpur. The daylight attack sent shockwaves through the area, sparking protests and demands for immediate action.
Eyewitnesses reported that Shivam was walking with friends when three assailants on a scooter intercepted him. Without warning, they opened fire, shooting him multiple times before fleeing the scene. The attack, occurring in a crowded area, caused panic, leading to a stampede-like situation.
Shivam was rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents and police, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His death triggered outrage among the residents of Dhatkidih Mukhi Basti, who took to the streets, blocking the main road connecting Dhatkidih to Kadma and demanding the arrest of the attackers.

In response to the protests, City SP Kumar Shivashish visited the scene and assured the crowd that all police stations had been alerted to apprehend the culprits. After an hour of negotiations, the blockade was lifted.
Shivam Ghosh, the son of Munna Ghosh, had a history of criminal involvement, with multiple cases against him. Notably, he was accused of murdering his aunt, Julie Ghosh, in January 2021, which led to public protests demanding his arrest. Shivam was jailed after his arrest but was later released. His father, Munna Ghosh, also has a criminal record.
Police believe that the murder may be linked to a gang rivalry or a fight for dominance in the area. Investigations are ongoing, with police reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. Authorities have promised to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore order in the community.
