Bantwal, Feb 19: A scooter rider who was injured in a car accident four days ago succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital today.

The accident occurred on February 16 at Ermal in Maninalkur village along the Manihalla-Mavinkatte road when a car approaching from the opposite direction collided with a scooter.

The victim, identified as Sundar Babu Shetty, a resident of Sarapadi Kalkotte, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

At around 9.50 pm, Sundar Babu Shetty was returning home to Sarapadi after offering prayers at the Periyapade Daivasthana when the accident took place. The car, driven by a man named Dinkar, was allegedly being driven recklessly and negligently. It veered to the extreme right side of the road and collided head-on with Sundar’s scooter, throwing him onto the road along with his vehicle.

He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for the past week. However, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries today, police sources said.

A case has been registered at the Panemangaluru traffic police station.
