Kasaragod, Feb 20: In a chilling turn of events, the mortal remains of 65-year-old Xavier D'Souza, who went missing from his home in Navadrabail since Tuesday night, were found Thursday afternoon in a pond near his relative’s garden, just 200 meters from his house.
Despite an extensive search by family and locals, Xavier had not returned by late night, sparking concern. His family filed a missing person report with the Manjeshwar police, who, along with residents, scoured the area.
The search ended in tragedy when his body was found in the pond. Police have initiated an inquest and sent the body for post-mortem at the Manjeshwar Taluk Hospital.
