Dubai, Feb 23: India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has set the tone for the much-anticipated Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan, declaring that the Men in Blue are ready to conquer another challenge on their journey to reclaim the title.
Rohit Sharma-led India will take on Pakistan in their second Group A fixture at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, eyeing a semi-final spot in the eight-team tournament. India started strong with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, while Pakistan, led by Mohammad Rizwan, stumbled against New Zealand in their opener in Karachi.
In a video shared by BCCI, Pandya expressed his determination for the new year and the new challenge. "Our quest to become champions once again has begun. Today, we step out yet again to start fresh, to conquer another day and another opponent. Chapter 2 in the Champions Trophy awaits. We are ready. Are you?" he said.
India has dominated Pakistan in ODIs in recent years, remaining unbeaten in their last six encounters since 2018. The last time Pakistan got the better of India in the format was during the 2017 Champions Trophy final at The Oval. Their most recent ODI meeting came in the 2023 World Cup in Ahmedabad, where India secured a commanding seven-wicket win.
With history favoring them, India will look to extend their dominance, while Pakistan aims to turn the tide in this highly anticipated showdown.
