'World Thinking Day' celebrated by the Scouts and Guides of Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Feb 23: The "World Thinking Day" was celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru by scouts and guides with great enthusiasm and fervour on February 22. The programme held in the school auditorium, aimed to commemorate the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the scout and guide movement.

The ceremony began with a warm introduction by the anchors scout Nathan, 8E and guide Sanidhya, 7A setting the tone for the event. The guard of honour was accorded by the senior scouts and guides to the chief guest ADC Srinivas Kini, president of Bharath Scouts and Guides, Mangalore North Local Association, accompanied by Sr Asha Prima, superior of Vijayamari Convent.

The dignitaries lit the lamp, symbolising the ignition of knowledge, wisdom and values followed by the all-faith prayer representing the unity and diversity of faiths, promoting harmony and understanding.

Scout Rion, 6D and scout Rithvik, 5C welcomed the gathering and a sapling was presented to the chief guest. A vibrant welcome dance performance filled the auditorium with energy and excitement. It was followed by the theme 'Our story' highlighted through the significance presented by guide Kevlyn, 8D and Prisha, 7C along with a skit that depicted the inception of the girl guides movement, highlighting its importance and impact.

The cultural dance performance was a testament to India's rich cultural tapestry, as they beautifully blended the traditional dances of Kashmir, Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat into a mesmerising spectacle.

ADC Srinivas Kini, in his address, emphasised how scouting and guiding movement teaches everyone to take care of each other. He encouraged all to extend that same kindness to our planet. Certificates were handed over to the students to acknowledge their participation and achievements at the Campori held at Scout and Guide Bhavan, Moodabidri.

On behalf of the MCCS scouts and guides unit, Scout Ayush and Scout Suhan both from 5C expressed gratitude to everyone for making the event a success.

The programme concluded with a note of appreciation by Sr Asha Prima who also reminded the students on the upcoming exams and encouraged them to be focused and committed to do well in the exams.
