Tragic road crash in Gujarat claims lives of five Bengal tourists

Surendranagar, Feb 23: Five tourists from West Bengal lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries in a devastating road accident in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district on Sunday, police confirmed.

The incident took place around 4:30 PM near Navi Morwad village in Limbdi taluka on a national highway when a tempo traveller carrying the tourists collided with a dumper, said JN Gamara, sub-inspector of Chuda police station.

The group, which had been exploring Diu and Gir, was en route to Ahmedabad for a flight scheduled two days later when the fatal crash occurred.

According to officials, two women and three men died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a hospital in Sayla for medical treatment.

Authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem, and further investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
