Kaup, Feb 24: As a prelude to the consecration and Brahmakalashotsava of the Kaup Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple, a grand Uttaravahini Hore Kanike Samarpana procession was held with the participation of thousands of devotees from Udupi district.
The green-clad Hore Kanike procession commenced from National Highway 66 at Pangala and was flagged off by Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president of Dakshina Kannada district central cooperative bank; Dr K Prakash Shetty, chairman of the Brahmakalashotsava committee and CMD of MRG Groups, Bengaluru; and K Vasudeva Shetty, president of the Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple development committee.
Devotees from various parts of Udupi district, including Udupi, Hebri, Karkala, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Kaup, and Byndoor, as well as participants from the Dakshina Kannada district central cooperative bank, Navodaya Charitable Trust-sponsored self-help groups, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala rural development project, and regions such as Mumbai, Pune, Sagar, Hubballi, and Bengaluru, took part in the grand procession, offering their contributions. The Hore Kanike Samarpana committee, led by Dr Deviprasad Shetty, welcomed the offerings at Pangala on NH-66 before proceeding towards Marigudi Temple in a grand procession.
Approximately 15,000 men and women participated in the procession, alongside dignitaries from the undivided Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, as well as national and international guests. The event was made even more colorful with traditional drum troupes, trained artists, musical bands, folk performers, cultural displays, tableau representations of Vasudeva Krishna, Shri Rama Charitra, Mookambika, Anjaneya, Radha-Krishna, Babbuswami-Mariamma Devi, Hulivesha dance groups, a silver chariot, and over 700 decorated vehicles carrying offerings.
The procession followed a designated route from Pangala on National Highway 66, passing through Polipu Mosque, Kaup Market, and the police inspector's office, proceeding via the service road, and culminating at the Hosa Marigudi Temple under the flyover. Despite the massive turnout of vehicles and participants, the event was conducted in an orderly manner with the assistance of police and volunteers, ensuring smooth traffic flow.
The event was graced by prominent figures, including MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Gurme Suresh Shetty, Yashpal A Suvarna, V Sunil Kumar, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Sai Ishwar Guruji of Shankarpura Dwarakamayi Math, management committee president Nadikere Ratnakar Shetty, executive officer Ravikiran, tantri K P Kumaraguru tantri Korangrapadi, archak Srinivas tantri Kalya, Swarna Gaddige Samarpana committee president Ravi Sundar Shetty, Hore Kanike committee president Dr Deviprasad Shetty Belapu, philanthropist Mahesh Kotyan Mumbai, KMF president K P Sucharitha Shetty, Udupi district cooperative union president Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Dakshina Kannada district cooperative union president Shashikumar Rai Balkottu, Pune committee’s Santosh Shetty Inna, Kurkilbetu Ermalu Chandrahase Shetty, Bengaluru committee’s Upendra Shetty, Hubballi committee’s Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, Sagar committee’s Sudhir Shetty, municipality president Harinakshi Devadiga, authority chairman Vikram Kaup, and other notable dignitaries.
The event was further enriched by the participation of several community leaders and committees, including the management committee, development committee, Brahmakalashotsava committee, and Hore Kanike committee, all of whom played a crucial role in the successful execution of the grand event.
