PM Modi highlights India's global trust, Assam’s growth at advantage Assam summit

Guwahati, Feb 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Advantage Assam Summit in Guwahati, emphasizing India’s growing global influence, strong economic policies, and Assam’s rapid development under the BJP-led ‘double-engine’ government.

Speaking at the summit, the Prime Minister said that experts across the world acknowledge India's rapid progress, attributing it to the country’s governance and long-term vision. He stated that the world today trusts India's skilled youth, the rising neo-middle class, and the 140 cr people ensuring political stability and policy continuity. Modi also highlighted India’s increasing participation in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), stressing that international confidence in India reflects its robust economic strategies and governance.

Addressing the gathering, Modi remarked that the world’s trust in India continues to grow, which is why Assam has become a center of opportunities. He credited the BJP government for Assam’s transformation since the first Advantage Assam summit in 2018, pointing out that its relentless focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and industrial expansion had yielded remarkable results.

The Prime Minister noted that air connectivity in Assam had significantly improved over the years, with the number of flight routes increasing from just seven in 2014 to 30 today. He also highlighted key advancements in the railway sector, citing the launch of a high-speed train from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri as a major milestone. The state’s river connectivity has also seen significant progress, with four new bridges built over the Brahmaputra in the last decade.

Modi reiterated that Assam’s business-friendly environment and institutional reforms are shaping the state’s bright future. He described Assam as a land of boundless possibilities, attributing its rapid growth to the impact of the double-engine government ensuring development at both the state and central levels.

With Assam emerging as a crucial player in India’s economic expansion, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to sustaining this momentum through policy reforms, infrastructure upgrades, and international trade partnerships. The summit, attended by industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, echoed Modi’s vision of transforming the northeastern region into an economic powerhouse.
