Govt focused on sustainable infrastructure and boosting economic growth, says Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Feb 25: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal emphasized the government's commitment to building a sustainable and resilient infrastructure ecosystem aimed at shaping a future-ready India. Speaking at the second edition of the Build India Infra Awards 2025, Goyal highlighted the allocation of Rs 11.21 lakh crore in the Union Budget for 2025-26 for infrastructure development, which will create jobs, enhance mobility, and facilitate better business opportunities.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, initiatives like PM Gati Shakti are promoting integrated and multimodal infrastructure, reducing logistics costs, and boosting India’s economic growth. Goyal further noted that the Build India Infra Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in infrastructure, honoring projects that contribute to transforming India’s development.

The minister also discussed key infrastructure milestones, from improved highways and railways to world-class ports and airports, all reflecting India's ambitious growth vision. He urged continued collaboration and innovation to ensure that infrastructure remains a backbone of economic progress.

In a separate address at the Pune International Business Summit 2025, Goyal assured the Centre’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment and promoting ease of doing business. He highlighted recent diplomatic efforts, including Prime Minister Modi’s visits to the USA and France, which have opened doors for increased investment and collaboration.

Goyal also pointed out the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in shaping the country’s future, emphasizing initiatives like the Rs 10,000 crore Fund of Funds for Startups and significant investments in R&D. The minister acknowledged Pune’s role as a hub of innovation and a key player in India’s growth, praising the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) for its efforts in empowering entrepreneurs and driving progress.
