Rajkot, Feb 25: Six people, including a child and two women, lost their lives in a horrific accident on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad national highway when a truck driving in the wrong lane crashed into an auto-rickshaw on Tuesday evening, police said.
The auto-rickshaw driver sustained severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police R.S. Baria, the seven-year-old child, two women, and three men were passengers in the three-wheeler when the speeding truck collided with it near Maliyasan village. The truck driver fled the scene following the impact.

The crash left the auto-rickshaw mangled under the truck, prompting authorities to deploy a crane to clear the wreckage. The accident also led to heavy traffic congestion on the highway.
“The truck was headed toward Rajkot but was recklessly moving in the wrong lane, leading to the deadly collision,” Baria said.
The auto-rickshaw driver survived but suffered serious injuries and remains under medical care. Police have launched a manhunt for the absconding truck driver as investigations continue.
