Bengaluru, Feb 26: Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday announced that a delegation of BJP MPs, MLAs, and MLCs will meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on February 28, urging him to address the pressing issues of Bengaluru.

With CM Siddaramaiah set to present the state Budget for 2025-26 on March 7, the BJP leaders plan to push for higher Budget allocations for the city’s development. Vijayendra also declared that the party will stage protests across all Assembly constituencies over Bengaluru’s civic concerns.

Addressing mediapersons, Vijayendra stressed that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections must be conducted without delay and criticised the state government's Greater Bengaluru proposal. Instead of prioritising the tunnel road project, he urged the government to adopt more practical solutions to Bengaluru’s traffic congestion.

He accused the Congress-led government of negligence, stating that while discussions revolve around tunnel roads, even basic issues like pothole repairs remain unresolved. He further suggested increasing metro coaches as a more viable alternative to the controversial tunnel road project.

During a BJP leaders’ meeting in Bengaluru, concerns were raised about the recent metro fare hike. Vijayendra alleged that the state government was wrongly blaming the Centre for the fare increase and called for an immediate fare reduction.

He further accused the government of deliberately delaying the BBMP elections under the pretext of the Greater Bengaluru proposal, terming it a conspiracy to maintain control. Vijayendra insisted that the elections must be held at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, R Ashoka, has scheduled a pre-Budget meeting to discuss key demands, which BJP leaders will also attend.

The meeting was attended by BJP MPs PC Mohan, Tejasvi Surya, Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya, MLAs Gopalaiah, SR Vishwanath, CK Ramamurthy, M Krishnappa, Ravi Subramanya, Byrathi Basavaraj, Uday Garudachar, three BJP district presidents from Bengaluru, and state chief spokesperson CN Ashwath Narayan.
