Kundapur: Youth drowns in sea while setting fishing net

Kundapur, Feb 26: A 24-year-old youth drowned in the sea while setting a fishing net near the old estuary at Koteshwar on February 25.

The deceased has been identified as Megharaj, a resident of Bijadi.

Megharaj had gone to the sea near Bijadi to set up a fishing net when he was swept away by strong waves. His body was later found on the shore near Bijadi in the evening.

Coastal security personnel and members of the Coastal Security Squad, including Sudarshan S Kundar, Krishna Kanchan, Santosh Poojari, and Sudhakar Kharvi, rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection before sending the body for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered at the Kundapur police station in connection with the incident.
