New Delhi, Feb 26: Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has filed a police complaint following a heated exchange with a social media user on platform X.

The controversy erupted when a user with the handle "Randomsena" questioned Harbhajan’s patriotism and challenged him to say "Khalistan Murdabad." The former off-spinner, angered by the provocation, responded in Hindi, calling the user "mentally unfit."

The X user, identified as Abhishek Singh from Bihar, repeatedly demanded Harbhajan make the statement and accused him of supporting Pakistan. The situation escalated when Harbhajan revealed that an FIR had been registered against the user for alleged abusive remarks.

The dispute began after the X user shared an Instagram story posted by Harbhajan, urging him to say "Khalistan Murdabad" and calling on others to retweet until the cricketer responded. Following the exchange, the user claimed he had been targeted for his activism and revealed details about his social media activities.

According to reports, Abhishek Singh, who was earning Rs 50,000 per month, quit his job to focus on what he describes as “raids” against individuals he perceives as disrespecting Hindu gods or the Hindu community. Despite not being affiliated with any law enforcement agency, he frequently urges authorities to take action against social media users.

His Instagram account was later suspended, after which he appealed to Union Minister Anurag Thakur for intervention. Reports indicate that his X account was created in February 2020, during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests, and that he has a history of making provocative social media posts.

The incident has reignited discussions on online hate speech, social media accountability, and the role of law enforcement in tackling cyber disputes.
