Puttur, Feb 26: In a tragic incident, a lorry supervisor died on the spot after jumping from a moving vehicle and falling onto the concrete road. The incident occurred near the Adda Hole bridge in Shiradi village on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway on the morning of February 25.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshman Segontavan (43), a resident of Eruvaikadu village in Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu.

Lakshman had been working as a supervisor in the lorry for the past week, alongside driver Velayudham Rajagam, who is also from his hometown. They were transporting watermelons from Dindivanam in Tamil Nadu to Mangaluru.

According to the driver’s statement, Lakshman had asked to stop the lorry to smoke a beedi late on February 24. The driver assured him he would stop the vehicle shortly. However, Lakshman, reportedly agitated, jumped out of the left-side window of the lorry near the Adda Hole bridge and fell onto the concrete road.

When the driver stopped the lorry and checked, he found Lakshman with severe chest injuries, leading to his death on the spot.

A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station based on the driver’s complaint.
