Bengaluru, Feb 26: In a significant move towards ensuring the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI), Infosys launched an open-source ‘Responsible AI’ toolkit on Wednesday, designed to address the growing concerns around the risks and ethical challenges of AI adoption.

Part of the company’s Infosys Topaz Responsible AI Suite, this toolkit is aimed at helping businesses navigate AI technologies while minimizing associated risks, including privacy breaches, security threats, bias, and harmful content generation.

The toolkit offers advanced solutions to mitigate issues like misinformation, deepfakes, and the malicious use of AI. Additionally, it aids businesses in detecting and preventing AI-related challenges such as biased outputs and copyright violations, ensuring safer AI implementations.

Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at MeitY, expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “This toolkit will be instrumental in advancing Security, Privacy, Safety, Explainability, and Fairness in AI systems, while helping to mitigate bias in algorithms. It is a crucial step towards developing trustworthy and responsible AI solutions, especially for startups and developers.”

One of the standout features of the toolkit is its ability to improve transparency in AI-generated decisions, helping businesses gain deeper insights into AI operations while maintaining high efficiency and a smooth user experience.

As an open-source tool, it is flexible and customizable, enabling organizations to adapt it to a wide range of AI models and business needs. Additionally, the toolkit is compatible with both cloud and on-premise systems, making it easier to integrate across various platforms.

Balakrishna D.R. (Bali), Executive Vice President and Global Services Head for AI and Industry Verticals at Infosys, highlighted the importance of ethical AI adoption in today’s business landscape. He stated, “As AI plays an increasingly central role in driving growth, its responsible adoption is essential. This toolkit will ensure that businesses stay resilient and trustworthy while navigating the AI revolution.”

Sunil Abraham, Public Policy Director for Data Economy and Emerging Technologies at Meta, also emphasized the significance of open-source resources. He remarked, “Open-source code and datasets empower AI innovators and adopters to harness AI’s potential while prioritizing safety, diversity, and economic opportunities for all.”

Infosys’s launch of the Responsible AI Toolkit sets a new benchmark for ensuring ethical and safe AI practices in the tech industry, helping organizations foster trust and responsibility in their AI systems.
