Jaipur, Feb 26: In a significant breakthrough, Jaipur police on Wednesday dismantled a cyber fraud syndicate with international links, arresting a key member of the operation, Yashwant Singh Panwar (21), a resident of Gurjar Basti, Shastri Nagar, Jaipur.

The arrest followed a tip-off, leading authorities to recover 61 active mobile SIM cards, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from Panwar’s possession. The bust was made possible through the combined efforts of intelligence teams led by Deputy Inspector General Yogesh Yadav and Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhant Sharma, who have been tracking cybercrime operations across the region.

The investigation revealed that the criminal network was sourcing active SIM cards from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, which were then flown to Jaipur. The operation came to light when the police received intelligence about a shipment of fraudulent SIMs, leading to targeted surveillance.

Panwar was caught in the act at a tea stall near Kalra Petrol Pump on Sirsi Road, where he tried to flee but was quickly apprehended. During questioning, he revealed that the SIMs were provided by his associate, Abhishek alias Anna, a resident of Lalarpura, Gandhipath West, Jaipur, who is now operating out of Dubai.

Abhishek is believed to be running a call center for conducting cyber fraud, using the stolen SIM cards for illicit activities such as online gaming frauds and digital scams. Authorities also discovered that the gang operates a setup in Jaipur with SIM box devices capable of activating multiple Indian SIM cards remotely, enabling the Dubai-based criminals to carry out their fraudulent schemes.

Further investigations have led to the identification of additional members of the syndicate, including individuals from Punjab and Hanumangarh Junction. The police suspect the existence of further fake SIM cards in circulation, and additional arrests are anticipated.

Panwar will be produced in court, where the police will seek remand to further investigate the network’s operations and financial transactions.
