Bengaluru, Feb 28: Marking his 83rd birthday, senior BJP leader and former chief minister B S Yediyurappa reaffirmed his commitment to bringing the party back to power in Karnataka. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he announced plans for a state-wide tour aimed at strengthening the party’s base and energizing its workers.
Expressing confidence in BJP’s return, Yediyurappa declared, “The party’s victory in Karnataka is as inevitable as the rising sun and moon. I am stepping into my 83rd year with renewed determination to serve the people. The overwhelming wishes and prayers from supporters across the state have strengthened my resolve.”

As part of his strategy, Yediyurappa revealed plans to organize conventions for party workers in every district, aiming to bolster their morale and mobilize efforts against what he termed as the “corrupt Congress-led government.”
Prominent leaders, including union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda, defence minister Rajnath Singh, and former CM H D Kumaraswamy, personally reached out to convey their birthday greetings. His supporters marked the occasion by presenting him with an 82-kilogram cake.
Former CM and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized that under Yediyurappa’s leadership, BJP leaders would unite to reclaim power in the state. Meanwhile, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra highlighted the enthusiasm among party workers, who celebrated the day with various social service activities, including distributing fruits in hospitals and offering special prayers at temples.
Vijayendra hailed his father as an ‘exceptional leader and fearless fighter’, recalling his contributions, including the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme and Bicycle Distribution Scheme, which significantly impacted the people of Karnataka. He noted that despite the grand affection from supporters, Yediyurappa’s birthday was observed in a simple yet meaningful manner across the state.
