Udupi, March 1: Three luxury cars with Dubai registration were seized by police in Manipal after complaints from the public about their loud noise.
The vehicles, owned by three Kerala-origin youths living in Dubai—Sulaiman Mohammed (26), Mohammed Sharif (27), and Abdul Nazir (25)—were reportedly brought to India for six months of travel.

The trio imported the high-end Dodge vehicles by ship, paying Rs 30 lac in taxes in Dubai and Rs 1 crore in India. They had come to Manipal to attend a party hosted by their friends. However, the deafening noise from the cars caught the attention of locals and the police, resulting in the seizure of the vehicles.
The documents of the cars have been forwarded to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for verification.
The Manipal police have sought clarification from the RTO regarding the legality of operating Dubai-registered vehicles on Indian roads.
Further action will be taken based on the RTO’s report.
