Konkani film ‘Anthyarambha’ selected for screening at BIFFes 2025

Bengaluru, Mar 2: The 16th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes 2025), organized by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy for the Government of Karnataka, is being held from March 1 to 8. Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is a significant hub for international and Indian film culture, reflecting Karnataka’s rich heritage and achievements in literature, fine arts, music, and cinema. The festival theme for this edition is 'Universal Peace in Diversity.'

More than 200 films from 60 countries will be showcased across 13 screens, with over 400 shows at three venues. The primary venue, PVR Orion Mall, features 11 screens. The event is expected to attract over 10,000 delegates. As in previous editions, competitive sections for Asian, Indian, and Kannada cinema will be held, with cash prizes awarded to the winners during the closing ceremony.

Out of 1,200 applications, only 200 films were selected, including the Konkani film Anthyarambha (The End - A New Beginning), directed by 73-year-old Dr Ramesh Kamath. Dr Kamath, a graduate of the Film and Television Institute (FTII) in Pune, has produced and directed four Konkani films, with Anthyarambha being his latest work.

The film will be screened twice during the festival - on March 4 at 4 pm at Suchitra Film Society and on March 5 at 7 pm at Screen 1 of Orion Mall.

Anthyarambha is produced by Smt. Kiranmayi Kamath under the banner of Adithya Cine Creations. The film features camera work by PVR Swamy, editing by Nagesh Narayan, music by Srisuresh, and playback singing by Shankar Shanbhag. The story, screenplay, and direction are by Dr Ramesh Kamath.

The main cast includes Dr Ramesh Kamath in the lead role, Damodhar Nayak, Pratheeksha Kamath (a well-known model), Joachim Stany Alvares (president, Konkani Academy), Vitobh Bhandarkar, Sheela Nayak, Master Yatarth Shenoy, Master Adithya Kamath, Vadudha Prabhu, Uday Jadugar (famous magician), Narasimha Nayak, Prakash Mini, Umesh Shenoy, Anand Nagarkar, T G Shanbhag, Krishna Nayak, and others.
