Five injured in firing between two groups in Northeast Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 4: A violent clash between two groups led to a firing incident in northeast Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area on Monday night, leaving five individuals injured.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 9 pm when a distressed man rushed to the Jyoti Nagar police station, claiming that his son had been shot at by unidentified assailants.

Law enforcement officials immediately responded and discovered that multiple rounds had been fired during the altercation. The injured were promptly shifted to GTB Hospital for medical attention.

A forensic team and crime specialists arrived at the scene, where they recovered several empty shell casings and a live round. Preliminary investigations suggest that the gunfight could be linked to personal disputes or gang rivalry, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

Security has been heightened in the area to prevent further tensions. Police officials are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to trace the suspects.

A case has been registered at Jyoti Nagar police station, and multiple teams have been deployed to investigate technical and manual evidence.

DCP North East, Abhishek Mishra, stated, "Five individuals sustained injuries in the firing incident and are currently receiving treatment. A case has been registered, and we have identified certain leads on the individuals involved. Further investigation is underway."

Authorities continue their probe to ascertain the exact motive behind the shooting and bring the culprits to justice.
