Udupi: ICYM Shirva deanery successfully conducts MC training session at Pamboor

Udupi, Mar 5: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Shirva deanery, successfully conducted an MC training programme on March 2 at Holy Cross Church Hall, Pamboor. The programme aimed to equip youth aged 16 to 28 from Shirva deanery with essential skills in event hosting and public speaking.

Dr Grynal D’Mello, associate professor and alumni coordinator, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte served as the resource person. The session began with a formal inaugural ceremony. Josita Mendonca, president of ICYM Shirva deanery, welcomed the gathering, while Freeda D’Souza, joint secretary of Shirva deanery, introduced the resource person. The event was graced by Florine Saldanha, animator of Pamboor unit, Jackaline Mendonca, animator of Shirva unit, and Arwin Saldanha, president of ICYM Pamboor unit. Jeevan, president of ICYM Shankerpura unit, efficiently compered the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.

The session commenced with action songs, setting an energetic atmosphere among the participants. Dr Grynal engaged the participants with valuable insights on public speaking, audience engagement, time management, body language, and script preparation. His interactive approach, combined with real-world examples, made the session highly informative and dynamic.

A total of 50 enthusiastic youth actively participated in various discussions and activities, enhancing their confidence and communication skills. The participants provided positive feedback, highlighting the practical benefits of the training in preparing them for real-life hosting responsibilities.

As a token of gratitude, a memento was presented to Dr Grynal D’Mello. The event's sponsors were also felicitated for their generous contributions. The programme's success was made possible with the support and guidance of Fr Arnold Mathias, director of ICYM Shirva deanery, and Fr Henry Mascarenhas, parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Pamboor.

The MC training programme concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impact on the participants. ICYM Shirva deanery reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through this well-organized and appreciated initiative.
