Jaipur, Mar 5: Rajasthan’s Anantpura Police have uncovered a honeytrap gang that targeted businessmen through Facebook chats, extorting large sums of money by luring victims into staged meetings.
The police arrested three members of the gang – Chetan Janging alias Biddu (25), Altamas Khan alias Allu (20), and Mujjammil Khan (22). However, the mastermind and a key female accomplice remain at large.
City SP Amrita Duhan revealed that the gang used fake Facebook profiles to befriend businessmen, gradually gaining their trust. Once the victim was sufficiently engaged, they were invited to meet at an isolated location, where they were abducted and blackmailed.

One such case involved a businessman, Prashant Vijay, who had been chatting with a profile named "Monica Singhania" for five days. On February 25, he was invited to meet at Karneshwar Mahadev Temple, Anantpura. Upon arrival, four men forced him into his own car, held him captive for hours, and coerced him into transferring ?1 lakh via PhonePe.
Following his complaint on March 3, the police launched an investigation under the supervision of Additional SP Dilip Saini, CO Manish Sharma, and SHO Bhupendra Singh. Digital evidence, including Facebook activity and bank details, led to the arrests of Chetan, Altamas, and Mujjammil.
A key player, Alina, based in Vigyan Nagar, remains on the run. She operated multiple fake Facebook profiles under names like "Monica Singhania" and "Akansha Singhania," engaging with businessmen before setting them up for extortion by gang members led by Sagar alias Nannu.
Victims were threatened with false rape allegations to force financial payouts.
Alina had previously extorted ?45,000 from another businessman in Udyog Nagar. She was also involved in false rape cases against individuals in 2024, which were later settled in court.
SP Duhan has urged other potential victims to come forward and report similar incidents. The police are continuing their search for the remaining accused.
