SpiceJet to Launch Mangalore-Mumbai Flights from Feb 1

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jan 15: SpiceJet Airlines, which set foot in Mangalore last September has added a new destination to its flight services from the city. So far, it was operating from Mangalore to Chennai and Hyderabad. Sources close to SpiceJet have now told Daijiworld that it will begin Mangalore - Mumbai operations from February 1.

Flight would take off from Mumbai at 10.25 am and land here at 11.55 am. It would depart at 12.25 pm and arrive in Mumbai at 1.55 pm

It may be recalled that due to persistent financial and technical constraints, Kingfisher had suspended its Mangalore - Mumbai operations last November. There has a been huge demand for destination Mumbai, with the ticket fare skyrocketing during Christmas and New Year season.

According to Mangalore airport sources, from March there will be full-fledged flights from Mangalore to Mumbai and Bangalore, both considered destinations with heavy traffic from Mangalore.

From March end onwards there will be five daily flights to Mumbai and at least seven to Bangalore by various airlines. Apart from domestic operations, there are 14 flights already operating between Mangalore and Middle East.

Its high time Mangies had more competition on this sector.Earlier it was the monopoly of Jet, KF & Indian.

I guess with competition the rates would become extremely competitive & CHEAPER on this sector !

I hope Spicejet has an immediate connection to Delhi from Mumbai.

I wonder why INDIGO / Go air Airlines are shying away from Mangalore ? Mangalore is a city with alot of business potential.

Flights belongs to Air India Express only operationg between Mangalore & Middle East , Why other private Airlines can take an opportunity to serve the people who are in Middle East . Mostly all are fed up with the services of Air India Express specially at the time of Christmas for their cancellations & reshedule of flights. Have to see who is the first one to put up an end for this and bring cheers. I have hope in Jet Airways.

In absence of the Kngfisher operations of Mangalore route we were really in great trouble and the intervention of Spice Jet at this stage is a great rescue act by Spice. Pl keep air-fare affordable.
