Udupi: Choornotsava, Religious Rituals Performed at Sri Krishna Mutt

Udupi, Jan 15: Choornotsava - religious celebrations were held at Sri Krishna mutt car street here at 10.00 am on Sunday January 15, the following day of Makara Sankrati.

Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor Mutt, Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejavar Mutt, junior Swami Vishwaprasanna, Swami Vidhyavallabhateerta of Kaniyoor Mutt, Swami Sugunendrateerta of Puttige Mutt, Swami Vidhyasagar of Krishnapur Mutt, Swami Vidhyadisha of Palimar Mutt participated in pulling the Rath, a distinct tradition during the occasion.


A few devotees performed penance by rolling-over the path from behind Rath that was pulled by Swamijis and temple celebrants.

The religious celebrations were concluded by holy dip in Madwa Sarovar in Sri Krishna mutt, here.

The renowned drummer Shivamani who was seated in rear seat of Rath drew the attention of devotees with his melodious music.
